Catherine Macfee & Associates

Located in Squaw Creek Estates, the most exclusive subdivision in Squaw Valley, "Fish Lip Lodge" was originally designed and built to serve as a weekend ski cabin. Following the Arts & Crafts philosophy of making a home one with nature, Catherine Macfee & Associates transformed the lodge into a spiritual retreat for a busy San Francisco businesswoman.
The incorporation of branches and logs in both the construction of the home and in the custom furnishings further nurtures the symbiotic relationship between home and nature.
The developer's design concept was based on a combination of the WPA lodges of the 1930's and the Arts & Crafts bungalow. The most striking feature of the home is the 55 foot long "Great Room" with natural granite fireplaces at each end.
Large selections of the furnishings were inspired by the late 1800's Great Lodge Camps of the Adirondacks.
Each room was given a unique theme, incorporating a warm and playful blend of rustic antiques, tramp art, Adirondack and primitive pieces from France, England, Africa and Indochina.
Seventy percent (70%) of the furnishings and fixtures were custom designed by Catherine Macfee & Associates and built by artisans from across the United States. The interior design of the lodge was completed in less than one year.
