The owners of this 1930's Frank Lloyd Wright style dwelling purchased their new home with the intention of a major remodel. Their top priority was to update the house to fit with the attitude and lifestyle of a young 90's family without sacrificing the character of the original design. Their plan called for an entirely new kitchen.
The style of the original stone and concrete fireplace in the adjacent "Great Room" was successfully extended into the kitchen, inspiring the limestone and tile floor.
Warm, earthly tones were selected to add a modern flair to this traditional kitchen. Eggplant colored counter tops and stainless steel appliances complement the textured rows of tumbled marble and accent tiles that form the backsplash.
The classic white-paneled cabinetry adds contrast to the textured stone and tile motif, and provides a display space for the homeowners' unique and colorful crockery by way of it's glass doors and open shelves.
